This website, ratecheckhq.com (the "Site"), is owned and operated by Berry Leads LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company ("Berry Leads," "we," "us" or "our"), under the name Rate Check HQ. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use the Site, how we use and share it, and the choices and rights you have. By using the Site, you acknowledge the practices described here.
1. Information we collect
Information you provide
You can read our guides without giving us any personal information. We collect information you choose to provide, such as when you email us, use our contact form, or submit a rate-check or similar form that may be offered on the Site. Depending on the form, this may include your name, email address, phone number, ZIP code or address, date of birth, vehicle details, driving history, current insurance information and similar details relevant to your request.
Information collected automatically
When you visit the Site, our servers and service providers may automatically record standard log information such as your IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, referring page, pages viewed, and the date and time of your visit. If we or our partners use cookies or similar technologies, they may also collect information about how you interact with the Site and with ads.
Information from others
We may receive information from advertising partners, analytics providers and companies that help us verify or improve the quality of information submitted through forms, such as confirmation that a phone number or address is valid.
2. How we use information
- To operate, maintain, secure and improve the Site and its content.
- To respond to your questions, requests and feedback.
- When you submit a rate-check form, to process your request and connect you with insurance companies, agents, brokers and comparison services ("Partners") that may be able to offer you coverage or rates.
- To measure how the Site is used and how our advertising performs.
- To detect, prevent and address fraud, abuse, security issues and technical problems.
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Use.
3. Cookies, analytics and similar technologies
Cookies are small files stored on your device. We may use cookies, pixels, local storage and similar technologies, directly or through service providers, to keep the Site working, remember preferences, understand traffic and usage (analytics), and measure the effectiveness of advertising. Analytics providers may collect information about your use of the Site over time and across other websites.
You can control cookies through your browser settings, including blocking or deleting them. If you block cookies, some features may not work as intended. Many browsers also offer tracking protection. Where required by law, we will ask for your consent before using non-essential cookies.
4. Advertising and partners
The Site is supported by advertising. We work with advertising partners and networks that may display ads, track clicks, and measure conversions, and we may receive compensation when you click a link or submit a form. These partners may use cookies and similar technologies to collect information about your activity on the Site and other websites to provide advertising that may interest you (sometimes called interest-based or targeted advertising). Some industry programs let you opt out of interest-based advertising from participating companies, for example through the Digital Advertising Alliance's choice tools. Opting out does not mean you will stop seeing ads; the ads may simply be less relevant. See our Advertising Disclosure for more.
5. Rate-check forms and consent to be contacted
The Site may offer forms that let you request insurance rates or information. If you submit such a form and provide your phone number, you agree that we and our Partners may contact you at the number you provided, including by telephone calls, text messages, and calls or texts made using automated technology or prerecorded or artificial voices, about insurance products and related offers, even if your number is on a federal, state or company do-not-call list. The specific consent language displayed on the form at the time you submit it governs that consent and identifies how your information will be shared. Your consent is not a condition of any purchase. Message and data rates may apply, and message frequency varies. You may revoke consent at any time by telling the caller, replying STOP to a text message, or contacting us using the details below. Please submit only a phone number that you own or are authorized to use.
6. How we share information
- Partners, at your request. When you submit a rate-check form, we share the information you provide with Partners so they can respond to your request. Partners use your information under their own privacy policies.
- Service providers. We share information with vendors that help us run the Site, such as hosting, email, analytics, security and data-validation providers, who are bound to use it only to provide services to us.
- Advertising partners. As described above, advertising partners may collect or receive information about your use of the Site.
- Legal and safety. We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena or other legal process, or when we believe disclosure is necessary to protect rights, property or safety.
- Business transfers. Information may be transferred as part of a merger, acquisition, financing or sale of assets.
- With your consent or at your direction.
Under some state laws, sharing information with Partners in exchange for compensation, or allowing advertising partners to collect information for targeted advertising, may be considered a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. You can opt out as described below.
7. Your privacy rights under US state laws
Depending on where you live, including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, Texas, Oregon and other states with comprehensive privacy laws, you may have some or all of the following rights, subject to legal exceptions:
- Right to know and access the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you, the sources, the purposes, and the categories of third parties with whom we share it.
- Right to delete personal information we collected from you.
- Right to correct inaccurate personal information.
- Right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information and of targeted advertising, and, where applicable, of profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects.
- Right to limit the use of sensitive personal information, where applicable. We do not use sensitive personal information to infer characteristics about you.
- Right to data portability, to receive your information in a usable format.
- Right to non-discrimination for exercising your rights.
- Right to appeal a decision we make about your request, where your state provides one.
California notice at collection. In the past 12 months, the categories of personal information we may have collected include identifiers (such as name, email, phone, IP address), characteristics of protected classifications that you provide on forms (such as age), commercial information (such as current insurance and vehicle details), internet or network activity, approximate geolocation, and inferences. We collect these from you, your device and our partners for the purposes described in Section 2, and may disclose them to the categories of recipients in Section 6. We keep information only as long as described in Section 9.
How to exercise your rights. Email support@ratecheckhq.com with the subject "Privacy Request," or call +1 (401) 306-7579. To opt out of sales, sharing or targeted advertising, include "Do Not Sell or Share" in your request. We will verify your request by matching information you provide with information we hold, and we will respond within the time required by law. You may use an authorized agent, who must provide proof of authorization. We treat a Global Privacy Control (GPC) browser signal as a valid request to opt out of sale and sharing for that browser, where required by law.
8. Do Not Track
Some browsers send "Do Not Track" signals. Because there is no common industry standard for these signals, the Site does not currently respond to them, other than honoring Global Privacy Control as described above.
9. Data retention
We keep personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including to comply with legal, accounting and consent-recordkeeping obligations, resolve disputes and enforce agreements. When information is no longer needed, we delete or de-identify it.
10. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. Children's privacy
The Site is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
12. Third-party sites
The Site may link to websites operated by Partners and other third parties. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices. Review their privacy policies before providing information.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and change the "Last updated" date. Material changes will be highlighted where appropriate.
